The Opening of The Three Musketeers
September 2012, The Denver Center for the Performing Arts. Playwrights Douglas Langworthy, Penny Metropulos, Linda Alper and director Art Manke.
Playscripts is dedicated to fostering artists and cultivating new and invigorating works for student, amateur and professional theatermakers, and it is with great pride that we represent nearly 2,000 playwrights who are essential in furthering that mission. Hailing from all over the globe, these eclectic writers get their work produced in middle schools, high schools, colleges, community theaters and professional houses all across America and beyond.
However, at Playscripts, we are about more than just productions. We take special pride in our life-long relationships with writers. From the prolific Don Zolidis, who we began publishing years ago when he was a middle school teacher and who now has had thousands of productions of his plays around the world, to the celebrated Lauren Gunderson whose play I and You, winner of this year's ATCA Steinberg Award, is the fourth of her plays Playscripts is proud to represent, to theater veteran Jon Jory, who has 16 award-winning adaptations of timeless classics with us, to Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize Winning Robert Schenkkan, who has found at home in our catalog multiple times. It's a great source of pride to us when a playwright decides to trust us with their work, or their body of work, because we know what a big decision that is. Partnerships with playwrights are at the core of what we do, and for us, one of the most rewarding aspects of play publishing.
Playscripts is also eager to encounter new voices. We've published works by Jen Silverman, Eric Dufault, Chiara Atik, Jeremy Bloom and many more for the very first time. And we know this is only the beginning of a long relationship we are excited and honored to cultivate with these writers.
In part because Playscripts was co-founded by two playwrights, we have always been a champion of writers and their causes. We consider our job to be getting great plays into the hands of theaters and audiences who will love them as much as we do. And we know that starts with the core of our business: the playwrights.
Playscripts currently does not accept unsolicited submissions. Literary agents may submit on their clients' behalf at any time. If you are a playwright currently published in our catalog, you may submit through your Playwright Information Center (PIC).
