Published Reviews

"Point of Revue accentuates American injustice and inequality and focuses on providing live evidence that reveals the harsher side of humankind... the audience is left with a raw and realistic look at life, which includes the lewd and vulgar as well as the beautiful and noble."

Skylar Kangas, sotanLIFE

Point of Revue opens with a Charlie McCarthy-style dummy show, except in this case little Charlie has assumed the persona of a redneck and his puppet master is a black man played by playwright/actor Warren C. Bowles. In its own silly way, the piece comments on the tug-of-war characterizing race relations in America. But the most immediate thing is its hilarity. ...There's much more where that came from in this showcase of mini-plays, a contemporary vaudeville-style revue featuring the talents of nine prominent African-American playwrights and one composer, J.D. Steele. The most over-the-top of all is "Secretary of Shake," by Eisa Davis, a bit in which two women with international relations degrees try out to be Condoleezza Rice's backup dancers.
